Abstract
Nomenclature and distribution information is provided for 343 species-level fossil taxa of Chironomidae as Part 4 of “A World Catalogue of Chironomidae (Insecta: Diptera)”. Details are given for 190 species-level taxa (151 described and 39 undescribed) in 107 genera (46 fossil and 61 extant) in ten of the thirteen recognized subfamilies. Location details for known fossil species types, as cited in original publications, are given by zoogeographical region. A comprehensive bibliography of relevant publications is provided with actual dates of publication where possible. The year of first publication for some genera and species is amended.
