Abstract
This is the a supplementary lecture in the course Water Technology dealing with pathogens in drinking water. This is a PowerPoint lecture which is free to use and modify. It was designed to be used in conjunction with the course text Gray, N.F. (2017) Water Science and Technology: An Introduction, published by CRC Press, Oxford. In the lecture the following are explored: pathogens in drinking water, pathogen classification, waterborne diseases, pathogen transfer, bacterial pathogens, viral pathogens, protozoan pathogens, barrier approach to control, monitoring pathogens, Drinking Water Directive, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, enterococci, enumeration, Giardia, Cryptosporidium, cholera, opportunistic pathogens, Legionnaires disease, mycobacteria.
