This Value for Money and Policy Review examines Exchequer expenditure on the Legal Aid Board, an agency operating under the aegis of the Department of Justice and Equality, which is the primary State provider of legal services in civil matters in Ireland. The annual Grant in Aid payment from the Exchequer is in the region of €24 million, which is approx 5-6% of the Department’s overall budget allocation. p.4
