Abstract
Description
This report is designed primarily to provide a picture of the quality of teaching and learning of
modern foreign languages in post-primary schools and to help schools and/or individual teachers
bring about improvement in modern foreign languages (MFL) teaching and learning. Key findings
from post-primary subject inspections in modern foreign languages, undertaken between October
2016 and September 2019, are presented in this document. Over that period, ninety-four MFL
subject inspections took place in a broad range of post-primary schools across Ireland.
